NCAA Women’s March Madness – BH Predictions

The men’s bracket gets all the attention, but March Madness applies to the world of NCAA women’s basketball, too. If you’re looking for a team to root for this year, then you should consider the chances of each team to make it to the Final Four in the women’s bracket. You don’t have to be a bandwagon jumper, but it helps to know about the teams.

Top Teams Headed into the Tournament

UConn Huskies
The UConn Huskies also stake a claim as one of the best teams in the country this year. Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis has a chance to be selected as the first overall pick in the upcoming WNBA draft. She’s a special talent, and there are times when she totally takes over games and makes it impossible for the other team to win. KML has plenty of support from her coaches and teammates, too, as the Huskies have only lost one game all season. You can bet that UConn will be a contending team when the Final Four takes place.

Baylor Bears
The Baylor Bears once again have a strong squad, even without past stars like Brittney Griner and Odyssey Sims. The new cast is led by Nina Davis, the Big 12 leader in scoring. Her sidekick, Niya Johnson, leads the country in assists. The Bears have plenty of depth, and they don’t rely on just one superstar. They will be as dangerous as any team headed into the tournament this year.

Tennessee Volunteers
It’s now been a few years since Pat Summitt retired, but the Lady Vols are still going strong. Their current incarnation features Isabelle Harrison, one of the top centers in the country. The Lady Vols still have great defense. They’ve had a few tough losses this year that keep that out of the top ranked spot, but they will be a force once the tournament begins. They are certainly a contender for the Final Four, and they could even win it all. They should also have a great shot at winning the SEC Tournament.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The Notre Dame women’s team should be another strong candidate for March Madness this year. Jewell Lloyd is one of the best perimeter players in the country right now, and she averages 21 points per game. Brianna Turner is a shot blocking machine down low for Notre Dame. They have awesome depth with plenty of players who can make big shots. It would surprise nobody if they go on to win the tournament.

Teams to Watch

South Carolina
South Carolina is underrated compared to other top teams, but they shouldn’t be. They just defeated Tennessee in a showdown of SEC powerhouses. They are a team with lots of size in the low post to cause problems for other teams. They are a dark horse to win the entire tournament, but at the very least, they should end up in the Elite Eight. If you’re looking to fill out a bracket for this year’s tournament, then be sure to take a long look at South Carolina.

Arizona State
Arizona State could take the tournament by storm this year. They are tied with UConn and Maryland for the best road record at 10-1. Arizona State can shoot, rebound, and play defense with the best teams in the country. They have several ways they can sneak up on a supposedly superior opponent and end up with the win. Keep an eye on Arizona State as a likely team to make the Sweet 16. They might even end up in the Elite Eight.

If you’re looking for a real Cinderella team, you may just be looking at it. Gonzaga has all the makings of a team that comes out of nowhere to advance far into the tournament. They are an outstanding team on the road with plenty of shooters and defenders to spare. They will likely enter the tournament as an 11 or 12 seed. But they could do some real damage if the teams ahead of them take them lightly. Mark it down. Gonzaga is the sleeper in this year’s tournament.

The 2015 NCAA March Madness tournament for women will take place before long. Get your brackets ready for what promises to be one of the best tournaments in recent memory. The stage is set for the stars of the game to steal the show. Get your popcorn ready.
