Lynx Destroys Stars To Book Ticket To WNBA Semifinals

It didn’t take much for Minnesota Lynx to blow out the San Antonio Stars, clobbering their hapless foes 89-70, to clinch a WNBA semifinals berth.

Maya Moore scored 24 points on 10-for-15 shooting and the Lynx got balanced scoring, including 27 points from their bench. MVP candidate Sylvia Fowles had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in just 27 minutes, in a game that was moved up an hour due to Hurricane Harvey.

The Stars got 15 points from both guard Kayla McBride and center Kayla Alexander, but the team struggled from the perimeter, shooting 3-for-19 from deep. The Stars dropped to a league worst record of 7-25.

The Lynx win improved their first place record to 24-6, guaranteeing them a top two regular season finish. The top two teams in the WNBA standings receive double-byes to the semifinals. Minnesota holds a one and a half game lead over the second place Los Angeles Sparks, who they play Sunday. Although they’ve clinched the double-bye, the Sparks could still pass them for the overall number one seed.
