In over a month, an NBA champion will be named. It may seem too early now– it’s just the first round of the NBA playoffs– but according to the latest Vegas odds, one team is heavily favored to take home the 2017 NBA Championship. And to be honest, it’s not even close!
Jason Alcher of Cheat Sheet counted down the nine favorites starting with a tie at No. 8. The Utah Jazz and the Toronto Raptors both have a +5000 odds of winning it all while the Los Angeles Clippers, Washington Wizards, the Boston Celtics (they may want to change that now), Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs line up.
Cleveland got the second-best odds at +250 so that only leaves us with only one team.
Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors may have blown a 3-1 lead in the 2016 NBA Finals, but they rebounded in a major way this past offseason, signing superstar Kevin Durant in free agency. And if you thought the Dubs were scary before, that’s nothing compared to a lineup featuring KD, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and two-time league MVP Stephen Curry.
Golden State has the top record in the NBA (59-14), leads the league in points per game (115.9), and has the second-best offensive (115.4) and defensive (103.8) ratings in the game. Even with KD’s recent injury, the Warriors have a chance to be the best offensive team in NBA history. At this rate, it’s hard to bet against the Dubs.
