Kristaps Porzingis Sees Himself As An All-Star Next Season

Kristaps Porzingis has high standards for himself and in one Instagram post, plainly states what his expectations are for himself next season.

I envision myself being an All-Star next season

After a puzzling offseason with rumors of being traded away by former Knicks president Phil Jackson, the 22-year-old Latvian forward is not only focused on staying in New York, but on putting together an All-Star campaign.

During the 2016-2017 season, Porzingis played more minutes per game and scored almost four more points per game than in his rookie season while playing in fewer games. If he stays healthy, his name could very well be called to attend All-Star weekend in Los Angeles next February.

What’s helping his case even more: Paul George, Paul Millsap and Jimmy Butler – all 2017 All-Stars – have all left the Eastern Conference. That means three extra forward spots are up for grabs this season, and with Porzingis being one of the Eastern Conference’s only stand-out big men, it seems even more likely this year that he’ll get the nod.

With the fans, Porzingis was ranked 21st overall for last year’s All-Star Game with just over 486,000 votes. He was ranked 5th among all players at the forward/center position, with 51 votes from a panel of 324 NBA players that voted – and with one more vote than his teammate Carmelo (50).
