The first-ever NBA Awards has been largely successful but it won’t be complete without looking at these amazing stats.
1. Mike D’Antoni joins elite company.
D’Antoni gets the nod as the 2017 Coach of the Year, his second COY award. He joins Pat Riley, Don Nelson, Gregg Popovich, Gene Shue, Bill Fitch, Hubie Brown, and Cotton Fitzsimmons to have multiple Coach of the Year Awards.
2. Draymond Green goes defensive.
Green won his first DPOY award and became the 5th player in NBA history to bag the DPOY and won the championship in the same season.
3. Speaking of Draymond…
Draymond Green allowed 27% shooting guarding one-on-one after switching in pick and roll situations this season. #NBAAwards

4. Just some MVP fun.
Russell Westbrook said the word “thank” 43 times during his 8 minute and 30 seconds MVP acceptance speech. This means he averaged around 243 “thanks” per 48 minutes and 182 “thanks” per 36 minutes.
5. Malcolm Brogdon= Rookie of the Year
The Bucks second round pick became the lowest-drafted Rookie of the Year (36) since Woody Sauldsberry in 1958 (60).
And probably the only one to win ROY without winning Rookie of the Month even once.
6. Giannis Antetokounmpo
The Greek Freak joins Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Anthony Davis as the only players to have an All-NBA and an All-NBA defense selection by age 22.
7. Bonus: Just the Spurs upping Danny Green’s trade value
